The objective to get to know each other and also determine your goals and expectations in order to establish a strong and pleasant relationship. It also allows you to learn more about our firm, our services, our philosophy and our infrastructure. It also helps determine if we are able to meet your expectations.

TD Canada Trust acts as a trustee for all of our registered plans, and as such, the amounts held in cash from these accounts are protected by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC). As a result, all the money invested with us is immediately transferred to our trustee to settle the transactions. PEAK Securities Inc. is not owned by TD Bank and remains fully independent, it is also a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF).

 

PEAK Financial Group is audited annually by various Canadian regulators. In addition, Peak subscribes to an insurance protecting against loss of certificates and internal computer fraud.

 

Sylvain Lapointe and FOCUS Financial Services are regulated by l’Autorité des Marchés Financiers and la Chambre de Sécurité Financière, which requires ongoing professional development and follows a strict ethics code. La Chambre de Sécurité Financière is also responsible for administering the Financial Services Compensation Fund. This fund may compensate victims of fraud, fraudulent schemes or embezzlement for which a firm, a self-employed representative or an autonomous company is responsible. Its main mission is therefore the public protection since it determines the claims admissibility presented to them and determines the amount of compensation to be paid.

An independent financial advisor is an expert free of any conflict. It offers no in-house financial products and is free to recommend the solution that best suits its client. Whether the advisor’s remuneration is commission or fee, the investor does not have to pay a supplement because of this independence. Instead of the remuneration going in-house, it is simply redirected to the external, to the independent advisor. In other words, dealing with an independent advisor is not more expensive.
